Judiciary rolls out Court Annexed Mediation in Nakuru County

n

The Judiciary has now rolled out the Court Annexed Mediation (CAM) at the Nakuru Law Courts.

n

A Mediation team led by Justice William Musyoka has engaged various professional bodies such as the Law Society of Kenya members, Court Users Committee, County leaders, NGos and mediators in the region among other stakeholders.

n

Court annexed mediation was introduced on a pilot basis in 2016 at the Family and Commercial Divisions of the High Court in Nairobi. Over 350 settlement agreements have been reached in about 800 matters that have been concluded in mediation. Of significance is that a about Ksh. 4 billion has been released into the economy by virtue of the cases that have been resolved through mediation

n

Borrowing from the lessons learnt during the pilot stage, the Hon Chief Justice David Maraga gazetted Practice Directions to guide the roll out of Court Annexed Mediation to 10 Counties namely; Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Machakos, Garissa, Embu, Kakamega and Kisii.
