The new Strategic Blueprint Sustaining Judiciary Transformation: A Service Delivery Agenda — was launched by the Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga. The blueprint is a shift in transformation focus away from institutional building and capacity enhancement to enhanced service delivery.
Sustaining Judiciary Transformation blueprint, dubbed SJT, seeks to enhance access to justice to all court users, employ new strategies to clear case backlog, mainstream integrity in service delivery, restructure and strengthen the complaints office, develop a digital strategy and drive a high performing, independent and accountable Judiciary.
The strategy envisions a transformation driven by technology, and guided by the principles and practices of integrity; individual and institutional accountability and performance.
The execution of the SJT blueprint is spearheaded by the Implementation and Monitoring Committee (IMC) headed by the Hon. Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu. The Committee reports to the Chief Justice.
The strategic areas of SJT are:
- Enhancement of access to justice
- Speedy clearance of cases
- The Judiciary new Digital Strategy
- Effective leadership and Governance
- Ethical practices
- Restructuring and strengthening the office of the Judiciary ombudsman
