Office of The Presiding Judge of Environment and Land Court

The Presiding Judge is elected in accordance with Article 165(2) of the Constitution. He or she holds office for a non-renewable term of five years. The Presiding Judge has supervisory powers over the Court and shall report to the Chief Justice.

In the absence of the Presiding Judge or in the event of a vacancy in the office of the Presiding Judge, the judges of the Court may elect any other Judge of the Court to exercise the functions of the Presiding Judge.

The Presiding Judge of the Environment and Land Court in consultation with the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary is responsible to the Chief Justice for the administration of the Environment and Land Court.
