Judiciary holds Special Court Proceedings for Late Justice Samuel Mukunya

Chief Justice Martha Koome presided over a tribute court session for Closing File Proceedings in honour of the late Justice Samuel Mukunya.

The late Justice Mukunya is celebrated for his outstanding commitment when he worked in Kerugoya and previously in Mombasa and Bungoma Law Courts.

His impact on Kenya’s jurisprudence can be traced to the time he served as a judge of the Interim Independent Dispute Resolution Constitutional Court, which ruled on the right of prisoners to vote in the 2010 referendum.

He was appointed a Judge of the Environment and Land Court in 2012 and was privileged to serve the ELC as the Presiding Judge in 2015.

Besides his contribution to the legal fraternity, the late Justice Mukunya is feted for his immense involvement in community work and the Church. Those who worked with Justice Mukunya also describe him as great family man.
