Judge Abda Aroni calls for an end to cultural malpractices against the girl child at the northern Kenya

Garissa High Court Judge Lady Justice Abda Ali Aroni has called for an end to cultural malpractices against the girl child that are rampant in Northern Kenya.
She said vices such as early marriages, defilement, FGM and disparity in the girl child education still existed despite frantic efforts by the Government and civil society groups to curb the retrogressive culture.
Speaking during this year’s International day of the girl child celebrations held at Masalani town in Ijara Sub County where she was the chief guest, Justice Aroni urged the locals to heed the presidential directives to end FGM by 2022.
The Judge said the Judiciary will deal mercilessly with those found guilty of committing crimes such as early marriages, defilement, sodomy and FGM.
She appealed to civil society and the County Government of Garissa to closely work with law enforcers to apprehend those involved in the atrocities.
