Judge Achode installed as new Principal Judge of High Court

Chief Justice David Maraga presided over the installation ceremony of Lady Justice Lydia Achode as the Principal Judge of the High Court of Kenya.

Lady Justice Lydia Achode was elected by other High Court judges in an election exercise conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on 23 April, 2018.

Rule 14 of the High Court Organization and Administration (General) Rules, 2016, requires that the handover of the office of the Principal Judge should be done at an Installation Ceremony to be conducted by the Chief Justice.

The Chief Justice also commended outgoing Principal Judge, Justice Richard Mwongo and Principal Judge Emirtus Justice Mbogholi Msagha during the event which took place at the Milimani Law Courts.

The event was attended by judicial officers and members of the Law Society of Kenya.

Justice Achode takes over from Justice Mwongo whose term came to an end after serving as Principal Judge for five years
