Labour Court operationalises Malindi Sub-registry

The Employment and Labour Relations Court sub-registry in Malindi is now operational, bringing services closer to the people. The sub-registry is among six ELRC sub-registries gazetted early last year by the then Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to ease filing of cases at the Court. The other five are: Eldoret, Machakos, Meru, Garissa and Bungoma as sub-registries. Chief Justice David Maraga tours courts and prison facility at the Coast

The Chief Justice David Maraga this week, is on a tour of the coast region to inspect various court stations and a prison facility. The CJ toured Tononoka Children’s Courts, Shanzu Law Courts and Shimo La Tewa GK Prison. Further, he is expected to visit Mombasa Old Court to inspect the ongoing refurbishment for the Court of Appeal, meet advocates in the area and thereafter, brief the press on his tour.

The Judiciary Annual Sports Day is here

Chief Justice David Maraga today presided over the official opening ceremony of the Judiciary Annual Sports Day held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), Nairobi.

 

The two-day event that ends on Saturday was graced by World Marathon holder, Eliud Kipchoge. Teams from 15 regions across all court stations are participating in different outdoor and indoor games.

Deputy CJ sworn in as JSC Commissioner

Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu took of Oath of Office as the JSC Commissioner at Supreme Court, Nairobi. The DCJ is now the Supreme Court Judge representative to the Commission.  Lady Justice Mwilu was elected unopposed to serve for five years as member of the Commission. The DCJ replaces Supreme Court Judge Dr Smokin Wanjala whose term came to end last year.
