INDUSTRIAL COURT JUDGES SWEARING

On July 13, 2012, 11 successful applicants for the position of Industrial Court Judges were sworn in at State House Nairobi in the presence of President Mwai Kibaki and Chief Justice Hon. (Dr.) Willy Mutunga among other dignitaries.

The scheduled swearing-in followed the conclusion of a thorough selection process by the Judicial Service Commission. The JSC, which is chaired by the Chief Justice, concluded deliberations after interviewing 32 candidates for the position of Judge of the Industrial Court. A total of 35 applicants were shortlisted but three candidates were disqualified.

The 12 individuals selected for appointment in accordance with Article 166 s. 1 (b), and their names transmitted to the President were Mbaru Monica Wanjiru, Marete D.K Njambi, Onyango Maureen Athens, Nduma Mathews Nderi, Abuodha Jorum Nelson, Wasilwa Hellen Seruya, Radido Stephen Okiyo, Rika James, Ngume Linnet Ndolo, Ongaya Byron, Macau Onesmus Ndumbuthi and Nzioki wa Makau. Mr Mathews Nderi Nduma, who is in Brussels, shall be sworn-in at a later date.
